Info:If Shaun had been given a choice of starter, a water-type definitely wouldn't have been anywhere near the list. However, it's lucky that he didn't have that choice, because his little weasel with an innertube has turned out to be an indispensable part of his team. She marshals the other pokemon and Shaun himself with a firm and motherly paw, and if someone crosses her or upsets her trainer in front of her, this is one water weasel who is fully able to hold a grudge. Reached level 100 on 9/15/13.

Info:The first (and so far only) Pokemon egg that Shaun ever hatched, Calvin was a rascal from the minute he came out of the egg. He's calmed down somewhat since he evolved into a Pikachu, but he still has the tendency to let off sparks to let you know he's irritated. The only member of Shaun's team he doesn't do this to is Susie, because even though they're evenly matched in level now, Calvin still remembers when he shocked her tails as a Pichu and she turned around and cuffed him one. Reached level 100 on 9/15/13.

Info:Blaze was one of two Pokemon on Shaun's team who he received as a gift from Norman's FBI friend, and he is an exemplary example of his species in every way but one. His loyalty to Shaun is unfaltering, but given the choice he would far and beyond prefer to be a companion than a battler. Which is a nice way to say that he is a bit of a coward. Blaze is as sweet as can be, and if given the choice he would rather run from a battle than fight. All the same, he fights unerringly for his trainer if commanded, but Shaun, in return, keeps him in reserve rather than on the first string. Blaze is glad that Chase joined the team and is now strong enough to take up Blaze's position as the main Fire-type on Shaun's team. He's also afraid to evolve, although since meeting his mother Vicky Tory the Arcanine he's beginning to reconsider that fear.

Info:Richie is the other pokemon received from Norman's FBI friend, and she's both a companion and one of the most eager fighters on Shaun's team. Outside of battle, she thinks she's still Poochyena-sized, flopping on Shaun's lap and knocking over everything with sweeping wags of her long, furry tail. She adores human contact and praise, although she prefers to stay aloof of the rest of the pokemon on Shaun's team, except for Blaze and Taco, who she considers part of her pack.

Info:Shaun doesn't really remember where he got Chase – he woke up one day with an extra pokeball with a friendly level 13 Charmander inside. But he remembered dreaming about his dad and his brother, and since Charizard is the version mascot for Red (which was the game Jason had, and the Starter he chose), and Jason would have been 13 if he were still alive, Shaun (unknowingly) came to the same conclusion that he had when he first met Chase – the fire lizard was somehow sent to him by his dad and his brother. Shaun ended up briefly trading Chase to a boy named Sollux who taught him HM02 when Shaun turned to the network in desperation needing to get to New Bark Town after Norman's first disappearance and reappearance in Johto.

Info:Shaun met Finn as a level 15 Nidoran on Route 36, while he and Norman were on their way to Goldenrod City. He was smaller than most of the other Nidoran that they'd seen, male or female, and his spines were shorter. But the most obvious thing was that he was badly injured – so badly that the little guy limped right into their campsite and collapsed next to the fire. Shaun used one of his spare pokeballs without a second thought, catching him and then spending the rest of the night with the little venomous rabbit curled up on his lap while he gently sprayed Potions on the cuts and scrapes. But the seemingly vulnerable pokemon got up swinging - the next day, after his first battle, Finn evolved into a Nidorino. Upon evolution, Shaun noticed that his new team member had a scar that didn't heal: one of the claws on his front left foot was missing.

Info: Shaun first met Bull when her then-trainer Yusuke made a post on the network asking for advice on how to get her to listen to him better. Shaun, eager as always to prove his skill as a trainer, offered his advice and then offered to meet with Yusuke and Bull in person to see if Susie could ask the Heracross what was wrong. It turned out that the Heracross ended up taking a liking to Shaun (probably in no small amount helped by the fact that Nurse Joy had given him a jar of honey to ply her with), and therefore Yusuke offered to give her to him, since it was obvious that Yusuke was getting nowhere fast with her. She's fiercely protective of Shaun, to the point of bickering with the rest of his team, which means that while he does give her individual attention it has to be entirely individual – with the rest of his team in their balls. However, Shaun himself feels perfectly safe with her, and he's confident that anyone who tried to mess with him would meet the business end of the Heracross' horn.

He likes the Marowak, and while he's not focusing his training attention on him at the moment, he's looking forward to the ground-type being part of his team in the future.

Info: Shaun has spent even less time with the young Lapras that found herself under his care. He feels terrible about this, but her species isn't nearly as amphibiously-designed as Susie, so having her out outside of the water feels mean. Still, he has spent some time with her, enough to learn that she's about as gentle and mild-mannered as Blaze is (which is a good thing, because a rambunctious water-type would be more than he would be able to handle). One day he'll be able to train her, but he feels slightly better knowing that she's not interested in battling and levelling up like some of his other pokemon are. She's named after a lake that Shaun remembered visiting with his family back before his brother died.

Info: Until just recently, poor Lily has sat unthawed as a Root Fossil in Shaun's backpack ever since she turned back into a fossil at the end of the séance. However, when Shaun flew down to Cherrygrove to get Norman, he realized as they were passing through Violet that he could go to the Pokemon center there to get his new acquisition revived. He's not sure what to do with a giant rock-plant, but given how she reaches for him and almost purrs when he lets her grab hold of him, he's pretty sure that she's keen on him, so that will make this a lot easier.

Info: A gift from a friendly anonymous stranger, Shaun found this egg in his PC with a note attached. He carried it around with him for almost three weeks before it finally hatched into a friendly little Axew. She's taken a liking to Chase, toddling along after the bigger dragon and sitting curled up in his tail. She's a picky eater, but she's an eager battler, even though Shaun's only had a few weeks to get to know her. Now that she's a fully-evolved Haxorus, Chase-senpai has noticed her! Is love in the air, or is her lack of /Flying type a dealbreaker? Only time will tell!

No amount of headscritches or treats could get him to cheer up, and he even refused to play with his favorite red ball. But over time, the trainerly power of "Shaun-Shaun" won out, and he won the Watchog over. Alvin is perhaps the least intimidating member of the Shaun defense squad, but he's bound and determined to look out for Shaun in his old trainer's place.

Info: Taco rounds out the canine trio started by Richie and Blaze. His transition into Shaun's team was perhaps the easiest, since he was already packmates with the Growlithe and the Mightyena. He sometimes bullies their only unevolved member, but Richie is usually quick to put a stop to it, and Taco can't usually be bothered to fight her over it. The Houndoom is really rather lazy when he's being asked to do something that he doesn't want to, sometimes taking a light, wet nudge from Susie to get his butt in gear. On the routes, Shaun uses the three dogs as a blanket against the cold, especially useful given that two of them are fire types.

Info: El Caliente was a handful back when he was Norman's pokemon, and when he transferred to Shaun's care, he hadn't lost any of his spark. He was a little subdued and over-obedient at first, until Shaun figured out that the Rapidash felt guilty that maybe he had driven Norman away with his misbehaving. While working on his behavior issues (of which there are many), Shaun also made it a point to give Cali plenty of positive attention to remind him that it wasn't his fault that Norman left. The fire horse is a noble steed, although if he doesn't respect his rider and Shaun isn't around he'll sometimes pull little tricks like stopping for a snack, or suddenly speeding up to even just a fraction of his full speed at the slightest nudge.

Info: Rocky was one of the pokemon left to Shaun by Norman when the agent left Johto for good. Still a Riolu, Shaun had to spend a couple of months earning the pokemon's trust and battling with her before she finally evolved into a Lucario. With her ability to read auras, she screens strangers who try to approach Shaun to see if they're trustworthy before she'll let them. Shaun has learned that she's a fantastic judge of character, and generally lets her do her thing. She's protective of him, but not violently so like Hunter and Bull. She just doesn't want to lose another trainer.

Info: To say that Bella is gentle is an understatement. A Christmas present from Miss Botan, the Munna was delivered with the guarantee of sweet dreams, and Shaun definitely has the ability to single-handedly ensure that she stays well-fed. She loves her trainer, following and obeying him without question, but like Blaze she's happiest when she can just relax at his side and be with him to keep him company off of the field. Still, she wants to get stronger and eventually evolve so that she can guard her young trainer from all of his nightmares. She evolved sometime after pokeprom 2014, when Miss Botan and helpful big bro Yusuke bought Shaun a Moon Stone for her (and a Dusk Stone for Stella).

Info: Hunter was a Christmas present from an anonymous donor (the same one that gave him Michelle, more likely than not), and the Gible was definitely a handful from the get go. He's gotten better now that he's evolved, but he's still very particular and he's not very fond of strangers trying to get near Shaun. Like Bull, this means that he doesn't get to see much of the outside of his ball unless he and Shaun are out training by themselves. He's okay with that, though, because it means that he gets alone time with his trainer without having to worry about those annoying interlopers butting in and stealing Shaun's attention.

Info: A Christmas present from Shaun's big brother John, Shaun was a little surprised at how big the Golett was when it came out of the egg. He ended up naming the little guy Giant, not knowing until later that that was exactly what John's Golurk's name was. So Shaun's ended up being Giant II on paper, although it's still just Giant in battle. After Giant evolved and really started living up to its name, Shaun has taken to sitting on its shoulder and riding around that way since he feels safe on the iron giant's shoulders.

Info: Her name comes from the way that her wavy skirt/hair type parts have an almost night sky quality to them. A gift from Ishimaru for Christmas, Stella had the unfortunate luck of hatching the day before her poke-grandpa fell into a canon-update coma. It wasn't until weeks later when Shaun got the chance to tell him about how smart Stella was and how well she got along with the rest of Shaun's team. He's put a lot of hard work and dedication into raising her, that's for sure, but his reward is a loyal ghost-type that can't be beat. . She evolved sometime after pokeprom 2014, when Miss Botan and helpful big bro Yusuke bought Shaun a Dusk Stone for her (and a Moon Stone for Bella).

Info: Befriended during pearlgate 2014 at pokeprom, the little Spoink followed Shaun and his team around for the rest of the weekend even after his pearl was returned to him. Info: Shaun's third-ever actual caught pokemon, he found Lulu while he was taking Taco, Blaze, and Richie out for a run on Route 8. She hit it off right away with the other canines immediately, despite her being so much smaller, and Shaun felt terrible not taking her home with him after she'd made such fast friends with the pack. He discovered that she was at a weirdly high level for a Lillipup after she evolved with the next level that she gained. It was only a couple of weeks after that when she evolved a second time, now bigger than the other female in the motley little pack.

Info: During the summer fourth wall event, Shaun actually made a friend with a boy who was about his age, and while he was afraid that it would be short-lived, he woke up on Monday with a reminder of the boy who said he could turn into a hawk - a fully-grown Staraptor who popped out of a pokeball on Shaun's bedside table and promptly took the boy under his wing (so to speak). Shaun named him Tobias, but calls him "Toby" more often than not. He taught the Staraptor the move Fly despite his uncertainties about whether Toby is actually big enough to carry him even with the move.

Info: Duchess came from an egg that Shaun bought from Chihiro, mostly because he felt bad for initially giggling at Chihiro's egg-induced plight. Besides that, who can turn down a thundercat? HOOOOOO- anyway, Duchess is your typical kitten in a lot of ways, constantly getting into all kinds of trouble and demanding her trainer's attention. She's the baby of the team right now, and she seems to have been adopted by Shaun's other two pure-normal types, Alvin the Watchhog who fussily shadows her every move to keep her out of trouble, and Lulu the Stoutland, who lets her curl up in her masses of flowing fur for warmth at night.

He hides behind Duchess more often than not, and he lets the now-Persian groom him whenever she can get him to sit still and submit to a thorough licking from her barbed tongue. He also likes to be carried in Shaun's arms rather than in a pokeball, which is a behavior that Shaun isn't actively trying to discourage because even though he's not sure what to evolve him into, he's pretty sure it's not going to be a Flareon, Jolteon, or Glaceon, which would probably be the most uncomfortable to carry.

Info: Maddie was an egg that Shaun acquired from Sniper as a debt repaid for Shaun giving him eggs back in May. The Snubbull has taken on an older sister role to Jack the Eevee, but she's overall pretty terrible at it, basically helping facilitate his escape and inadvertently getting dragged into his fights. She and Jack, as the babies of the group, are living up to their name to be quite a handful.

Info: Shaun received Sakura in his PC when his friend Asahina left Johto. Unlike Donut, who he met at prom, and Cookie, whose parents are Taco and Richie, Shaun had never met the Poliwrath before, but he was upset to see his friend listed as the OT for the pokemon. It wasn't until he asked Chihiro that he found out that she was named after Asahina's best friend, and he's not sure why she ended up with him instead of with someone who had known the girl she was a namesake of, but he's determined that he'll take good care of her anyway, for Asahina.

Info: Squirt ended up in Shaun's box when John Egbert left Johto, but because of the different trainer ID, it wasn't until Shaun talked to Rose that he found out who the Blastoise belonged to. To say that he was distraught to hear of John's disappearance would be an understatement, and he quickly became fond of the Blastoise. The giant turtle's placid nature didn't hurt, either. He's small enough and light enough to climb up on Squirt's back, and he's almost forgotten how much fun it is with a vantage point like that. Susie is glad to have another water-only type on the team, and she warmed up quickly to the new arrival.
