[He only sounds slightly exasperated, to his credit, as he picks it up under its arms and pulls it in close.]

Uh, I need some advice.

Calvin doesn't know how to control the electricity in his cheeks yet, and he keeps zapping me and my other Pokemon. Richie and Blaze can handle it, but Susie's a water type and I'm worried he's going to hurt her real bad. It seems mean to keep him in his ball, though, just because he's too little to control his electricity... What should I do?

[Shaun's eyebrows go up at the sight of the little Pokemon. Calvin's ears twitch upward as well, and both of them peer in interest at it.]

Noo... What is it?

It's called a Joltik.

They're these little electric spider dudes.

_{[She gives the little guy a nudge with one finger and he scuttles to the other end of her palm obligingly.]}

They like to eat static electricity... so maybe if you kept one around, it could absorb some of the excess that's coming off of your Pichu.

[His eyes go wide. Calvin's cheeks spark a little bit before he remembers not to shock his trainer.]

_{[She looks down at the Joltik in her hands, which is happily nibbling on one of her fingertips.]}

Well... I sort of got mine as a gift last year... I'm not sure where you can find 'em in the wild...

[Well there goes that idea. He doesn't...really want to buy one, even though he might be able to from the same breeding center that the store clerk said Calvin's egg came from. He was sort of hoping he could find a wild one that could just...follow them around until Calvin evolved.]

I'll have to figure something else out, I guess.

There's a breeder convention comin' up, I think... maybe keep an eye out for sales during that?

That's okay. It was a good idea, though. Maybe someone else has one I can borrow until Calvin evolves.

Um... man, I really need to start paying more attention to these things... I think it's in Goldenrod? But most of the breeders I know will mail out eggs to customers who aren't in the, like, immediate area.

Oh, okay. I'll see.

...I dunno if I want to buy one, though. I should probably save my money for potions and stuff. Besides, I'd feel bad buying it and hatching it and keeping it around just to put it in the computer when Calvin evolves. That seems mean.

This little guy grew on me pretty quick.

_{[... And considering she had initially wanted to smash his egg on the ground before it hatched, that's a fairly big deal.]}

Otherwise... I dunno. Try to keep them away from each other as much as possible?

[He just doesn't want to have more than 6 pokemon unless he knows of a place he can send them where they'll be taken care of instead of sitting in a box for god knows how long.]

He does spark less at the end of the day than he does in the morning. I guess I'll just keep wearing him out with training.

[Calvin looks up at him with a 'Pi-chaaa?' and gets a scritch behind the ears.]

It's understandable.

But yeah, wearing him out might be the best option for the time being.

Calvin'd love exploring, if I could let him wander off too far. He's still just a baby, though, I don't want him going too far on his own.

[He's seen what happens when you wander off without parental supervision.]

I don't think you'd need to worry about that... Mully's like the size of a ping-pong ball, his idea of exploring is 'let's see how far down the hall I can get without touching the floor'.
