[The screen flickers on to show a boy who looks like he’s a little bit in a fog. Behind him, a Buizel bounces around happily through the snowdrifts, nearly disappearing only to poke her head up every now and then, her whiskers and fur caked with snow.]

Hello? Is anyone out there? My name is Shaun Mars. There was this lady who called herself my mom, and she gave me a backpack full of food and clothes and stuff, and I sorta...just wanted to know if that had happened to anyone else. And also, if the food was...safe to eat. It’s like rice, and I think there’s fish and vegetables and stuff too, or something.

I think I might've gotten someone else's Pokegear thing. It says it's my birthday today, but my birthday was two days ago.

Are you sure? I mean, I had a coat - and I was pretty freezing on the way t' Cherrygrove. I could send Tom to you for a bit, if you needed some warmth.

[The tonberry-like stuff hasn't happened yet.]
He's a Pokemon - hey, Tom, come on over.
[And then the candle hops on over, next to Laguna - and lets out a happy Liiiiiiiiiiit!]
When I arrived, I only had a Snivy - so I brought his egg, and, well... he's happy to keep people warm. When he snuggles, his flames even become a bit bigger and brighter!

[Shaun visibly relaxes when he sees that it's a Pokemon named Tom. The little candle seems happy enough.

He looks at Susie. If it really is a fire type and it tries to hurt him or take him somewhere, Susie can protect him.]

Hey, it's fine! I've got another fire-type hatching... well, it feels like it's going to be soon.
[Laguna pauses, crossing his arms. The Litwick looks into the screen and waves, leaping around a little until it's held with a Vine Whip from the slightly off-screen Servine.]
Either way - my name's Laguna Loire. That 'mum' thing happened to me too, y'know. She was a real strange one. I mean, I'm old enough to take care of myself. Even if I ended up in this strange world...

...Maybe she's sick. My grandpa gets confused sometimes and thinks my mom is my grandma when she was younger.
